Rest in peace, John H. Jenkins

This is John’s son, writing with bad news.

Early Tuesday morning, February 28, 2023, John H. Jenkins passed away in his sleep, aged 62. We don’t know the exact cause of death, but he had been in the hospital on Sunday for severe chest pain, for which they were unable to find a cause.

Thank you to anyone and everyone who supported him over the years. I will be keeping this website up and maintained for as long as I am able. If you wish to honor his memory in some tangible way, please leave a comment below, or simply pick up an Asimov book and start reading.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ve used this site many times over the years, it’s a real tribute to your father’s passion. My condolences.

  2. Sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I was listening to an audiobook and was curious about the pronunciation of the name “Noÿs” in the The End of Eternity so did a web search and found this site.

I’m inclined now to read the rest of your fathers reviews of Asimov works.

  3. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve visited this site many times over the years and enjoyed it immensely.

  4. This is really bad news. I love this site. And whenever I (re-)read an Asimov book I check to see what your father has said about it. He was the ultimate Asimov scholar.

  5. My condolences… I have no words to express how sad I am right now, after just finding out about it. I’ve always had his website on my browser’s favorite bar for years. Actually, every time I had to change computers for whatever reason, one of the first things I always did and will continue to do of you’ll allow it, is to add your dad’s website to my favorite bar. I have referenced his work many times on my own website, which I am always struggle to update (euasimov.com). May his memory live forever within his webside and his love for Asimov, which I share. Take care. (João from Brasil)

  6. I’m very sorry to read this. This is an excellent website, and I have bought some of Asimov’s books on the strength of the reviews here.

  7. My sincere condolences for your loss. I’ve enjoyed and admired your father’s work since I discovered this website many, many years ago, and it was one of the main foundations (pun intended) for my own Asimov research. May it stand for many more years to commemorate his passion and effort.

  8. I’m very sorry for your loss. I’m almost the same age than your father and share many of his emotions and experiences about Asimov writings. I spent many hours reading trough his site. Very grateful to him. Rest in peace.

  9. So very sorry to read this. I’ve been an Asimov fan since my teens in the early 80’s. I’ve collected Asimov for many years since and have used your father’s website many many times for reference, and enjoyment. I will continue to return every year on Isaac’s birthday, I hope you will be here.

This makes me very sad. rip.

  10. I, too, am very sorry to hear of your loss. I visited your father’s review site many times over the years, but only today I decided to come to the blog for the very first time, only to learn of his passing. Many thanks for keeping his work available. Long may it live on.

  11. Came here to see the yearly blog post about Dr. A’s birthday and was saddened to read this. John’s Asimov site has been such a great resource for so long and I’m grateful for all the work he put in to share this with us. So very sorry for your loss.
